What is IGCSE?

The qualification universities and employers trust

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is the world's most popular international qualification for 14–16 year olds. It develops subject knowledge, critical thinking, and examination skills that prepare students for A Level, IB, and university study.

At LifeHack International School, students study IGCSE entirely online through live, teacher-led classes, structured homework, and personalised mentoring — without sacrificing the academic rigour of a top international school.

FAQs

Common questions about IGCSE online

What is the difference between Cambridge IGCSE and Edexcel International GCSE?
Both are globally recognised Level 2 qualifications. Cambridge IGCSE is linear, with final exams at the end of the course, and offers over 70 subjects. Edexcel International GCSE is also linear but uses a slightly different specification and grading structure. Universities and employers treat both as equivalent. Our advisers help families pick the board that suits the student's strengths.
How long does the online IGCSE programme take?
Most students complete IGCSE over two academic years (Years 10–11). We also accept students for a one-year intensive route if they have a strong foundation in the subjects they wish to take.
Where do students sit their final IGCSE exams?
We register students through accredited Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel exam centres in Kenya. Families can also choose a centre in their country of residence if they travel. Our team handles the paperwork and keeps families informed of registration deadlines.
What technology is needed for live IGCSE classes?
A laptop or desktop with a webcam, a headset, and a stable internet connection of at least 5 Mbps. Lessons are recorded so students can review explanations, worked examples, and revision tips at any time.
Can a student join mid-year or transfer from another school?
Yes. We review recent school reports, run a short placement conversation, and build a personalised catch-up plan so the student can integrate smoothly into the live class schedule.
